Illipe Butter has a mild nut-like odor and is derived from the nuts of the Shorea Stenoptera a tree found in Southeast Asia. The nuts are collected as they fall to the ground and then pressed to extract the fat. It has been used for centuries to nourish and restore the skin's vitality and elasticity and is similar in composition to Shea Butter. Its chemical compound of oleic, palmitic, steric, and linoleic acids gives it excellent moisturizing properties and is therefore commonly used for skin care preparations such as nourishing night creams, hair masks, make-up foundations, soaps, and lip balms. As it protects against UV-A and UV-B rays, it is also found in products promoting sun protection and sunburn relief.
