Yarrow's diffusive aroma is sweet, herbaceous and penetrating and provides and interesting note to natural perfumery or stress relief in a diffuser. Yarrow’s biological name is Achillea Millefolium. The word Achillea is present because Achilles, the great Greek warrior is said to have used this herb during battles to treat soldiers’ battle wounds. Yarrow quickly staunches the flow of blood and is good for treating wounds. Therapeutically it is known as anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, respiratory and digestive. It can be used for wounds, burns, rashes, sores and inflamed skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. Yarrow’s astringent and regulating properties also make it helpful for balancing oily skin, hair and scalp conditions. It is believed to strengthen the hair shaft, treat split ends, stimulate new hair growth and promote a healthy scalp. It can also be useful for reducing allergy and hay-fever symptoms.
